Former UConn football players Matt Nuzie of Trumbull and Brian McGillicuddy of Fairfield were two of the waiters who sponsored tables at the event.

Park City Fest

Park City FestThe third annual Park City SportsFest presented by People's United Bank was a big success, drawing thousands of people to downtown Bridgeport on Saturday, March 22. The event was tied in with the free practice sessions for the eight teams participating in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament at the Arena at Harbor Yard.

A big part of the day was the Kick For Nick soccer ball collection. Area residents and organizations donated more than 200 balls in the name of Pfc. Nick Madaras, a former Wilton High soccer player who was killed in action in Iraq in 2006. The balls will be shipped to Iraq and distributed by U.S. soldiers to children there.

Over 20 local organizations participated in SportsFest by providing activities throughout the day. Thanks to more than 30 volunteers, the event ran smoothly.
